The Otolith Group (Webinar)

The CAPIm associated course Self-Organisation in Contemporary Arts will host an open public webinar with the artist-led Otolith Group (Kodwo Eshun and Anjalika Sagar). Eshun and Sagar, via selected case-studies will address how forms and genealogies of self-organisation contour their art, research and working practices.  

The Otolith Group was founded in London in 2002. Interdisciplinary artists, writers, curators and scholars their art and research emerge through dialogues, collaborations, friendships and affinities with the cultural worlds and communities of the global majority, and its diasporas; artists, theorists, philosophers, poets and composers, performers, cooks and organisers. Their projects often re-surface histories and cosmologies of practice that are obfuscated. They are recognised for their dedication to citation, paying attention and homage to the living and the dead in art, social movements, and cultures of transnationalism and solidarities. 

The Otolith Collective is the name of their public programmes that supports intergenerational and intragenerational art practices, research-led projects, writing and process-based forms of development. Via the Otolith Collective Eshun and Sagar create environments, with a wide range of collaborators, organisations, institutions and intellectual and artistic communities globally, to nourish discourse and discussion, co-commission artists, and curate exhibitions and programmes.
